Antrim's Paddy Cunningham

Seven frees from the evergreen Paddy Cunningham, including two in extra-time, helped Lámh Dhearg to a 0-15 to 0-13 Antrim SFC quarter-final victory over Creggan in Glenavy yesterday.

With Ruairi McCann, Ethan Carey-Small and Kealan Can on target, Creggan led by four points heading into the final quarter, but didn’t score again as two points apiece from Cunningham and Declan Smyth forced extra-time.

Creggan regained the lead through McCann and substitute Tiernan McLarnon, but Cunningham had the final say as Lámh Dhearg set up a semi-final meeting with Portglenone, who edged out St John’s by 2-10 to 1-12 on Saturday.

On Friday night, holders Cargin hammered Ahoghill 2-20 to 0-5 in the first of the quarter-finals. They’ll now meet St Brigid’s who overcame Dunloy by 1-15 to 2-9 in the other last-eight tie.
