Antrim strength and conditioning coach Brendan Murphy has had the controversial red card he received during the recent Ulster SFC quarter-final loss to Down overturned.

In a case of mistaken identity, Murphy was red-carded by referee Barry Cassidy following a half-time fracas involving another member of the Antrim backroom team and Down’s Conor Francis, who wasn’t part of their match-day squad. He appealed the decision to the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) who cleared him of any wrong-doing.

Meanwhile, the CHC has upheld the one-match suspension handed down to Laois defender James Kelly following his first half dismissal against Offaly in last Saturday week’s Leinster SFC quarter-final. Kelly was found guilty of “striking with the elbow, with minimal force”, meaning he will miss the O’Moore County’s opening game in the Tailteann Cup.
