Antrim bounced back from their late second round loss to Down a fortnight ago by recording an emphatic 1-19 to 0-14 over Tipperary in Thurles this evening.
Andy McEntee’s side got themselves off the mark in Division 3 with an impressive display at Semple Stadium, where they consigned the hosts to a third defeat in-a-row.
Conor Stewart’s goal on 14 minutes got the Saffrons motoring after a sluggish start as they went on to take a 1-8 to 0-6 lead at half-time – and it could’ve been more had Ruairi McCann hit the target with his penalty.
The visitors wouldn’t be made to rue the missed opportunity though, as Pat Shivers landed a brace of long range scores after the turnaround and three points off the bench from Odhrán Eastwood would help steer them towards a comfortable victory.
Tipp would trail by double figures with five minutes to go before Jack Kennedy, Martin Kehoe and Kevin Fahey raised white flags in the closing stages which took some tarnish off the final scoreline for them.
