how do you know its internal jayp?...its easy to say that as it helps the dublin or bigger county side of the argument....meath and kildare are largely internal issues and a poor crop of players but in numerous other counties its a lot more than that

Fabio,

Part of the problem is not knowing why some counties are getting more than others. People just see Dublin getting more money and instantly think it's the gaa wanting Dublin to do well.

Development grants are given after a detailed request for funds is submitted. The scale of Dublins plans demand they require more funding than most. But they are obviously sending in well structured and thought out plans, and they are also justifying these requests with evidence of development and success in the short and long term.

I don't know why people get stuck into it as a huge problem. While coaching and funding is needed by smaller counties, a well presented plan for development must be provided. Counties need to help themselves.

Dublin not getting funding next year doesn't automatically mean Carlow/Leitrim/Wicklow etc will get that cash. Development grants are handed out based on merit and justification of funding. Mainly counties need a direction. Targets and goals are very important.

But to ignore Dublins funding requests would be crazy as a long term plan.

I think that only makes Dublin weaker ...... Are we really saying we want counties like Dublin to regress in order for others to progress? Like Dublin are the main talking point about funding and sponsorship?

Dublin losing funding doesn't make Kerry, Donegal, Monaghan and Mayo disappear! Teams will still get murdered. I think counties need to really start planning properly and maximise what they already have, then have a development blueprint going forward that requests funding based on meeting goals and targets. That what the "successful" counties are doing and will continue to do.

dublin already have major funds generated by sponsorship..their funding isnt a major necessity..what is the sponsorship money used for?....why do they need the funding extra?>.i dont mind dublin being funded at all as its great to see the sport doing so well in the capital and obviously the figures considering population will be bigger just i feel the revenue they are generating from sponsorship meaning the funding they require is well down the list compared to some other counties in terms of necessity...the bigger counties all seem to be doing this..look at kerrys fund raising..kildare ruined themselves trying to compete under mcgeeney by the sounds of things

wouldnt include monaghan in that group...doing sensational with what they have largely cause of a brilliant manager and good group of players but at end of day completely punching above their weight and a small county
