Replying To Lockjaw:  "I think we might see Donegal's strongest starting 15 to date against Kildare next weekend. IT was no coincidence that when the likes of O'Baíoll (outstanding), McGrath and Murphy (from the start) were on the field that our performance improved drastically. It's looking a lit healthier for us now and without getting too carried away Bonner might have judged the league very well. If we can get to a league final against most probably Meath it'll be another good test ahead of Championship. With Paddy to come back as well I think we can look forward to the summer with renewed optimism."
It was always going to be the case with that kind of quality to come back. I agree next week will have the strongest Donegal line up seen this year. Big game for both teams in front of a likely big crowd. In terms of timing it should not really be in this scenario. More so to do with the Tipp game which was a giveaway. In terms of looking forward I would not be getting too carried away especially after the events in Croke Park tonight.

Tipp scored a point from a mark today. The ball was kicked in from inside the 45. The forward didn't catch it. The ref still awarded a mark.

And that still wasn't as farcical as some of the Kildare play today.

As farcical as it was we're still in with a shout for promotion; hard as it's to believe. We played for ten minutes today. It will need to be for the full 70 next week. Serious lack of focus during our last two games but particularly today

We beat you last year in Ballyshannon and I hope we didn't use up all our luck that day!
Ryan Mc Hugh scored a goal from 40m, you had a player sent off for no gum shield and a goal disallowed for square ball when he had no reason to be anywhere near the square.
It will be a tight game. If we play like our first half against Cork we won't win but anything like our second half for 70 mins and I think we can squeeze through.

The 10 mins you played for was enough to see off the 5 mins we played for!!

Another time we did get a mark, blew the whistle, our player stopped to take the mark, started getting tackled and had to play on.

Ref also in the space of 2 mins gave kildare a free when we isolated someone around midfield with 3/4 players, blew up 2 mins later on the tipp 21 for a tipp player overcarrying in a carbon copy where he was isolated by a number of kildare players.

These are in no way sour grapes or reasons for losing, we were awful for the majority, kildare not much better....was a shocking game thank God for the excitement at the end that saved it in a small way

Meath are all but promoted after defeating Clare this afternoon. It is unlikely that Meaths score difference will be overtaken.

All to play for with Fermanagh/Donegal/Kildare for the second spot

Bottom of the table also interesting with 2 Munster teams going down.

I did indeed thanks very much. And today's win really finished off a good week :). I hope Kildare make it, but they have to play for the full 70

Was at the armagh v fermanagh yesterday, i dont really know what to say about fermanagh style of football was effective but shambolic i know they have a small pick but surely they dont have to be cynical an play like that. Armagh actually played decent and tried to play football

Well done to Meath. I thought they looked really good against Donegal and were unluckly to lose that game. Hopefully this can be a springboard for them, they have some good footballers.

Meath would have to lose by 10 points not to be promoted. Would play a strong team and keep up the momentum and also be good preparation for the Final, probably against Donegal. The Tyrone game in the Championship last year was a real statement of intent from Meath, in many ways. Have a reasonable draw in Leinster, can we say they are back yet, need to make the Leinster final for me

We'll done to Meath, this is a long overdue promotion. 5 wins out of 6, hats off to you. I can't believe Kildare are in the hunt for promotion, we have been dire and seem to have totally forgotten that games have a second half. I can't see us getting what's needed in Donegal, given that they are on exactly the same mission as us and if I'm honest I don't think we deserve to go up. We just haven't been good enough. Again, very well done to our neighbours Meath.

It's the same old story, the underdog NEVER gets a break, always was and always will be. If it was your hurlers that were playing Kildare your lads would get all the 50/50 calls even though they didn't need them.

I fancy Kildare to beat Donegal so promotion is between Fermanagh and Kildare next week in my book. Meath v Fermanagh I think it will be very close. I'll go with a draw and both to get promoted.

I would have said the same thing a week ago or more, but I have read a lot of posts by Kildare supporters and they seem to be very down on the performances of their team this season so far. I think that will be a huge factor in the last game away to us. I know that we haven't exactly set the world alight either in division 2, in fact we have been very poor indeed - before the Cork game I thought that it would be a season changing game for us for better or worse. It so happens that it worked out for better. I believe that we have a bit of belief now plus a home fixture. Dangerous talk indeed, but I really can't see Kildare upping their game enough in a week to beat us in Ballyshannon.

Ps, congrats to Meath on their very likely promotion. They deserve it and should have beaten us in ballybofey 6 weeks ago. It could be a very interesting season for them if they continue their development through the spring and beyond.

A great weekend awaits next week. Nearly every team has something to play, ok in Meath case it's not as daunting, just ensure they don't lose by 10 points, and we promoted, however the fact that we are not yet technically promoted will bring a huge crowd to navan, also with Fermanagh knowing a win will promote them should see the Erne men descend on navan in huge numbers, up in donegal both Kildare and donegal know a win for either and a win for Meath promotes the winner, and don't even get me started at the relegation end of things.
On a separate note I just want to thank the players and management for their efforts this year, as was said previously the Tyrone game gave Meath the belief that was needed a few extra lads thrown in with the enthusiasm of youth just finished off the job. We were talking about it in the stand yesterday that Graham Reilly is the only non dub still playing that has a Leinster medal , here is another stat he has never played in division one football either, and when he came on yesterday he had ball in the net within 2 minutes (and himself) but that just shows what a fantastic player he has been for Meath he totally changed the game when introduced, donal keoghan has never played in top flight either, for the gaa in general these players need to show what they can do against the best. Honestly I'm giddy with excitement.

Ross Munnelly and although he didn't play in the final Mickey Burke would have a Leinster medal.
