Milltownpass GAA Notes
March 05, 2012

TJ Glennon Milltownpass
ACLF Div6.
On Sunday 26th Feb our second team got off to a winning start in Downs against the home side in the all-county league division 6. Going was heavy under foot and there was a stiff breeze to contend with. Milltownpass played into the wind in the first half and needed to work hard to get scores. The hard running and support play had paid off in the opening period and Milltownpass lead by 0-07 to 0-03 at half time.
The home side came into it more in the second half and with the game in the balance Tommy Gorman pulled off a superb save to keep Milltownpass ahead. This seem to spur on the team again and Milltownpass ran out convincing winner 0-13 to 1-06.
Particular mention need to go to Shane Corcoran and Jack Gorman who made their debuts at this grade and proved they are more than capable of competing at this level.

U16 Challenge:
We played Rhode last Saturday 25th Feb in an under 16 challenge. This was our first outing this year and a bit of a journey into the unknown. We played some great football in the first half and took some lovely scores. We led at half time by two points, Milltownpass 0-8, Rhode 1-3. We made a lot of changes at half time as we wanted to give everyone at least a half. We faded in the second half and Rhode to their credit upped a gear or two. We missed a lot of scores that we were taking in the first half and Rhode ran our deserving winners by four points in the end.The final score was Milltownpass 0-12 Rhode 1-13. This was a good performance , and we have the making of a good team as we were also short a few lads. We play Longford Slashers away next Sunday in the inter county league, and this game was the ideal preparation for it.
