Last weekend saw some exciting senior football action at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, Massachusetts. Saturday evening the Connemara Gaels had Shannon Blues on the ropes for most of the game, only for the Blues to snatch victory with an injury time goal from substitute Cathal McHugh, and in doing so preserve their hundred percent record.

Also at the top of the table are Donegal. Sunday the northerners lined out with Dessie Dolan and Kevin Cassidy joining the team at wing-back and corner forward respectively, however, Kerry side that had victory well within their remit, but failed to take advantage of a host of scoring chances. One included a penalty that was taken by Paul O'Neill, and Peter Boyle got down well to save. Donegal scored a late goal from Fergal Clancy that ensured victory.

Wolfe Tones had a huge win in a hard hitting encounter with an Aidan McAnespies side that featured Laois man Donie Kingston and Derry youngster Emmet Bradley.
The Tones came out with a salvo of scores to start the second half. Limerick man Cormac Joyce-Power, Meath native Michael Newman, and Dubliner Collie Carr scored a goal and three points between them and the Tones are on track for the playoffs. Christopher's also kept their push going with a convincing win over Cork.
With three weeks to the playoffs, and six places available, there are still nine teams in with a shout.

All four senior hurling teams were in action. Galway had a comfortable win over Fr. Tom Burke's with Eoing Guinan, Brian Watkins, and Steven Nolan impressing.
Tipperary eventually pulled away from Wexford thanks to good performances in the forward line from Paul Haughey and Dubliner, Kevin O'Loughlin. At the half way point of the championship Tipperary are top while Galway and Wexford are tied at second and third. The bottom team is eliminated after the two rounds have been played.

The Ladies senior football championship is finely balanced with all three teams on one win each. The top team gets a bye into the final. Newcomers Connacht Ladies have impressed so far, while the Boston Shamrocks are back in business challenging for the title that Tir na nOg currently hold. Plenty to be decided in the next few weeks!
