
A fine display from Peadar Byrne proved crucial as Ballinlough defeated Dunderry to seal their place in the Intermediate Football Championship quarter final at Cortown.

The win puts the 2014 Mattie McDonnell champions at the top of Group A and certain of a quarter final spot as group winners.
Having got their season off to a disastrous start, losing the opening nine games of the Division 2 football league, the Reds have hit form just at the right time winning eight games in a row (4 league and 4 championship).
Former county star Peadar Byrne was once again the winners scorer in chief with a tally of seven points.
Mark McCullen opened the scoring for Ballinlough. Three points from Byrne along with good efforts from the McCullen brothers Tommy and Mark and Jack Tunney gave Ballinlough a 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead.
Byrne added four points to his tally in the second half, Mark McCullen kicked his third point, a second from Tunney and a fine effort from the boot of Micheal Geraghty gave Ballinlough a three point win.
Next up for Ballinlough is Trim while Dunderry take on St Michaels.
