Slane 5-06
St.Pauls 1-10
After last weeks A league win at home to Moylough, Slane added another win in this B league fixture on Sunday 15th March.
It really was the young guns running at the St.Pauls defence that proved to be the difference here with goals proving vital in the end and several Slane players worked hard at staking their places on the A league team. The Slane backs of Graham Smith, Shane Harding, Tadhg Moloney, Stephen Gough and Jamie... Cassidy made it very difficult for the Pauls midfielders and forwards to break through, with most of the Pauls scores being curtailed to frees.
Stephen Goughs strength at centre half back was very influential in curtailing attacks and when the play broke, Slane youngsters Eoin Gibbs and Eanna Mooney in the midfield were keen to drive forward and worked very well with Gareth Kealy, Matt Tully and Kevin Dunne on the Half Forward line and Jamie McClean and Kevin Reilly at full forward. It was a good Slane team performance against a much bigger and more Seasoned Pauls outfit. Slane did ease off in the latter stages of the game and allowed the Pauls more into it and there are also lessons to be learned in retaining possession and being more clinical in front of goals, but all in all, a good days work by Slane.
