Eoin O'Connor expects Louth to be much more attack-minded under new manager Colin Kelly in 2015.

O'Connor, who was yesterday awarded a scholarship in this year's GPA/DCU Business School Masters Scholarship Programme, acknowledges that the defensive tactics employed by former boss Aidan O'Rourke weren't a success this year.

"Last year was defensive and it didn't really work, but the year before we didn't do too bad at all," he said in the Irish Daily Star.

"We had a few unlucky games, but that's the way it goes. A change is good I suppose, and everyone is happy that Colin is in. Division 3 is a fresh start. Paddy (Keenan) has retired, Shane (Lennon) has retired, so it's definitely a transition.

"It's Division 3 football and it's a new start with a new manager, a new type of football and young lads stepping up. So it's a clean slate I suppose."

The St. Pat's forward added: "Colin Kelly is our manager. I've had him at U21 and if there was ever a man to encourage you to play positive football, it's definitely Colin.

"In training, we try different things. Everyone is trying different things and there's no pressure if you lose the ball because he wants you to play football and always attack… but I think it's going to be a good year."
