East Senior Football Final
Cappamore 2.09 Pallasgreen 2.08
Well done to our Footballers who had a massive second half to turn a 3 point deficit into the 1 point and hold on for the win. Great credit to both teams who gave a committed performance in Caherally . Pallas started the game much the better and 2 quick first half goals had cappamore under pressure but again the forward line turn up with goals of their own by John Ryan and Eoin O Donoghue to trail by one at the break. The second was a much tighter affair with the two teams defending in numbers Pallas got ahead before Cappamore took control with points for Diamurid Sheehy, Jack Campell, Andy Murphy and Conor Sheehan this put Cappamore one to the good. Pallas did have late changes and were unlucky not to level, but Cappamore Held out,Paul Leahy Accepted the trophy on behalf of the time. A big thank to the players and the Management Team Panel: B Leahy. D Keating. P Leahy, L Walsh, B Creamer. U21 B County Semi Final
Cappamore 2.06 Castletown Ballyagran 2.03
A Solid second half performance ensured Cappamore Footballers progressed to the B County Decider in the coming weeks. A late Goal By Castletown Kept the boys on their toes but in truth they had work done at that stage .Cappamore Began the game better but it took a few attempts before cappamore got their first score through Conor Sheehan. John Ryan was quick to add the frees before a fine move up the field ended with Peter o Brien hitting the Back of the net. That put Cappamore 1.3 to 0.1. Castletown responded as the Cappamore Players took the foot of the pedal. Although the Defence was holding it was a loose ball that undid them and Castletown were level. 1.3 a piece at the break.
Cappamore Began the second half at a blistering pace and to be fair kept up this for the majority of the half. The Cappamore attacked on numerous occasion splitting the Castletown defence with some exiting play, but only a John Ryan Score was all they had to show, With Bill Creamer now playing a central role , Cappamore turned the screw, Chances came and went before points from Denis Leonard and James o Dea had cappamore in a good position, A brilliant moved started by good defending and went through the hands of several players ended with Jamie Murphy firing to the Net. Castletown to be fair then came into the Game after that but the Cappamore defence were in no mood and a William Birrane Save made sure of this. Although they got a late goal, the game was over and Cappamore will now Contest the B U21 County Final for a second year in a row. (Losing 2012 to ballysteen by 1pt).Great credit to the panel of 17 players today who all made a great contribution to what was a very good Win.Also Thanks to the Management team of Denis Leonard, Pj Ryan, Diamurid Sheehy and Brian Leahy.Team: W Birrane, G Sheehan, C Berkery, R Leonard, D Leonard (0.1). Minor Camogie Semi Final
Cappamore 2.6 St Anne's (Kerry) 3.6
The Camogie season Came to a disappointing end today with a heartbreaking lost in the Minor Semi Final. But the Girls can keep their heads held high, as they have a wonderful year. They are truly a great credit to their parents and Cappamore Camogie. The Game itself was always going to be a tricky affair, But Cappamore started with a bang, A goal by Elizabeth O Dwyer and Points by Claire Keating had Cappamore in a good position, But they could not keep this pace up and the Kerry outfit Came into it, With Rosin McKenna Pulling off some Fine saves but St Annes notched up 2.3 in a 10 Minute spell, Claire Keating effort got Back to within 5 at the break. The Second half saw Cappamore Dominate for the majority, and this really showed the effort that the girls were putting in. A Claire Keating Goal and Muireann Creamer Points had Cappamore Back into it. But a breakaway Goal for St annes put 1 goal Between them leading into the Last few minutes. Cappamore Players Battled and battled, but it just wasn't to be and in the end they ran out of time. This team represents the Future of Cappamore Camogie and after the year the girls had, it should be a bright future. With the Junior League and Championship under their belt, it was real pity the minor did not follow.
