Senior Hurlers

We begin by congratulating our Senior Hurlers who captured the Division 1 All County League title with victory over Garryspillane.
Played on Bank Holiday Monday in the Gaelic Grounds and minus the services of our County Representitives we played well in patches. We led at the break 8points to 4 with scores coming from William O Donoghue, Adrian Breen and Pat Gleeson.

Despite conceeding two second half goals we held on to claim the title 0-15 to 2-7.

We wish William O Donoghue and Aidan Hennessy who both received nasty injuries.

Team: Padraic Kennedy, Brian Shannon, Mike Casey, Gordon Brown, Mark Buckley, Kieran Kennedy, David Lynch, Pat Gleeson(0-3), Aidan Hennessy, Adrian Breen(0-5), Mike Foley, David Dempsey(0-1), David Sheppard(0-3), Will O Donoghue(0-5), Pat McCarthy.

Intermediate Footballers

Our footballers played the 2013 ACFL Div. 2 Final against Glin in Askeaton on Friday.

The evening turned wet and both teams served up a good game of football. In a tight first half we led by a point at half-time 0 - 4 to 0 - 3. Our scores came from Eoin Hogan (2 frees) and a point each from Noel Shannon and William O Donoghue from play. We started the second half well and added points from Evan Egan (free) and Ronan McKenna. William O Donoghue was lording midfield and his quick delivery of the ball to the inside forward line was causing big problems for the Glin backs. Then Noel Shannon collected a ball in the square and scored a fine goal. This put us 1 - 6 to 0 - 4 ahead.

We then faded out of the game and Glin punished us by scoring ten points to one over the last twenty minutes to run out winners on a scoreline of 0 - 14 to 1 - 7. Our lack of games over the last few weeks showed. Team and scorers B.Donnelly, P,Gleeson, Ml.Roberts, A.Finnegan, M.Buckley, D.Kennedy, C.Ryan, E.Kehily, Wm.ODonoghue (0 - 1), R.McKenna (0 - 1), C.Coady, B.Shannon, E.Egan (0 - 1), E.Hogan (capt,)(0 - 3), N.Shannon (1 - 1). Minor Hurlers

Our minor saw action on the double this week with games against Mungret and Ballybrown.

First up were Mungret who were well up for the fight. It was evident that we lack match sharpness and it took a while to get to grips with the game. David Broderick,Jerome Boylan and Eoghan Foley were the best of our defence while Peter Casey and Marcus McManemy worked tirelessly up front.

We ran out winners 1-21 to 1-13 with our goal coming from Kieran Daly
Eoghan Foley Peadar Collins David Broderick Jerome Boylan Robbie Graham Conor Houlihan Evan O'Brien Thomas Grimes, Ronan Lynch , Ian Considine, Peter Casey , William Henn, Conor Boylan Kieran Daly Marcus McManemy ----------- Michael Andrews , Jason Callinan, Ruaidhri O'Conaill Evan Gilvarry came on as subs

Next up were Ballybrown on Sunday in Clarina in what was a better all round performance.

Playing with a stiff breeze we took command of the game early with some great scores from Peter Casey 1-5, Ronan Lynch 1-6 along with points from Conor Boylan, Kieran Daly and Marcus McManemy.

we led at the break 2-17 to 0-2.

We continued our good hurling against the breeze with Peader Collins and Ronan Houlihan excelling in defence.
