Truagh advance to semis

Truagh advanced to the semi-finals of the Ulster intermediate club football championship following their six points win over Drumgath of Down in Ballybay yesterday.

Despite falling a point behind at the start the eventual scored three in a row; from Daniel Mc Kenna, Christopher Mc Kenna and Niall Coyle to go two up and a lead they never lost. Drumgath hit back through Colm Mc Comish but Neil Mc Rory and Christopher McKenna put the home side four in front with Daniel Mc Kenna and a brace from Adam Treanor then putting Truagh six points up on the stroke of half time, 0-8 to 0-2.

The visitors started the second half brightly and two points in four minutes from Mark Connolly and Mc Comish reduced the deficit to four points.

Truagh, However, responded strongly with Daniel Mc Kenna's fourth point of the afternoon which was followed up by a goal from wing back Niall Coyle to set them on their way.

Drumgath refused to lie down and points from Mark Connolly, Paddy Lively, Packie Downey and Conrad Hynes gave the Mourne men a lifeline but Christopher McKenna sealed it when he crashed the ball to the back of Peter Travers' net to make it 2-10 to 0-09 with only a minute remaining.
