Ulster Club Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter-Final

October 11, 2012
St Brigid's Cloughmills (Antrim) 1-16,
Castleblayney 2-10.

Castleblaney foray into the Ulster club intermediate hurling championship came to a disappointing end as the Antrim intermediate champion St. Brigids, Cloughmills, proved that little bit too adept in most positions but the Monaghan champions to their credit made a real battle of it in Casement Park on Sunday afternoon last. Castleblayney made a number of changes from the team that defeated Inniskeen in the Monaghan senior final with Eoin Leonard, Jim McHugh, Declan Crowe and Brian Flanagan starting in defence and Gerry Brady and Tony Forde starting in their attack. Despite that though they were chasing the game from the early stages as the home side made a blistering start and the cushion they created in those early stages was enough to keep a spirited Castleblayney challenge at bay in what was a lively contest all through.
