Ladies: Silverware for Simonstown

No room for Summerhill's Julianne Scanlon as Simonstown's Grainne Harrington, Eve Wardick and Aisling Cassidy close in during the Meath Ladies Division 3 FL Final at Walterstown.
Simonstown defeated Summerhill to land the Meath Ladies Division 3 Football League title at in perfect conditions at Walterstown.

Kelly Harris got Simonstown off to the perfect start with three fine points. Regina Hand followed suit and the Navan girls were four to the good after ten minutes. Niamh Crown pointed two frees for Summerhill before Naoise DeGraaff got the games opening goal. After twenty minutes Simonstown held a 1-6 to 0-2 lead. Summerhill battled well in the last ten minutes and were rewarded with three unanswered points from Julianne Scanlon (2) and Crowe. Simonstown led at the break 1-6 to 0-5.
The Hill narrowed the gap with two early second half points from Scanlon and Clodagh Gillespie before Simonstown took control again. Eleanor Lane and De Graaff goaled and the gap was out to 3-8 to 0-8 after 15 minutes. Goals became the order of the day. Jenny Rispin got in for Summerhills first with ten minutes left, Rachael Flynn replied for Simonstown, Julianne got The Hills second before De Graaff got her third of the match for the winners. Rispin finished the game with another 1-1 but time ran out for Summerhill and Simonstown could celebrate a fine win.
After the game Meath Ladies Chairman Aisling Clery presented the Player of the Match Award to Naoise DeGraaff and the Division 3 League Cup to Simonstown captain Eve Wardick.
