Glin U13 County Champions.

Glin 3-6
Ballybricken 3-3

On Saturday morning we left Glin for Rathkeale to face Ballybricken in the u13 county final. The conditions were ideal for football and the field was in great shape.Ballybricken started well with 2 unanswered points. We needed a score to settle after a few poor wides and it came from our captain Jamie Fitzgerald as he collected the ball on the half back line he burst forward to kick what would be the score of the day to get Glin started,we then drew level through cian culhane with another good score.Ballybricken replied with two goals to take the lead with only a few minuites to half time.once again Glin replied with a goal and a point from jack Sheehan and Karl Osullivan to leave us two down at half time.We started well in the second half with a goal and a point from Sheagh oconnor thanks to some great work from jack scannel.Ballybricken once again came back at us with a goal and point to take a 4 point lead Glin once again showed great heart and replied with 2 good points from jack fitzgerald and another goal from sheagh oconnor.3 points up with 5 minites to go ballybricken threw everything at us but our backs held firm as they did all game making tackle after tackle they were all outstanding .This was one of the best football games I have seen all year and both teams were excellent. While all the lads played very well there was a few great individual performances from Karl OSullivan ,Maurice Moore,Owen Wolfe and Cormack Healy. There is no doubt if this bunch off players stick together there will be many more days like this.

On a side note, as most of our season be it Bord na Nog our the senior side of things are closing to a halt( bar u21),the club would like to thank all the coaches trainers and parents who gave their time and effort during the year to various teams in the club, it's a thankless job but one that is much appreciated. There is trojan work being done in the underage scene in the club, even in the year gone by with an u/11 and u/13 county claimed, our u/14s were beaten earlier in the year in a county final, the club also had 5 starters on the Gerald Griffins side that claimed u/16 county honours 2 weeks ago.So hopefully the young boys and girls of the parish stick at it and hopefully the club can start bearing the fruits of this endeavour soon.Keep up the good work.
