Hurling Revival in Ballinamore
Hurling is without doubt the greatest game of all and anyone looking at the great championship matches this year couldn't disagree with that. Paddy O'Connor plans to revive underage hurling in Ballinamore in the coming year. For years Ballinamore were very strong in underage hurling and won championships at under 14, under 16 and minor. Unfortunately there has been no underage hurling in Leitrim at all for the past couple of years. St Mary's have been working on their own, playing in Roscommon. The crucial thing is that Paddy will need help with teams. Hurling is such an outstanding game and youngsters got so much out of it. It really only requires a few people, parents especially, to help with each age group. Our senior hurlers won the championship last year and maybe some of those players could help as well. Hurling in Ballinamore takes in a broad area of Aughnasheelin, Aughawillan, Fenagh and Drumreilly so we would be hoping that youngsters from those areas would take up hurling as well. Indoor hurling will also take place during the winter months. Let Paddy know if you could help in 2017.
