Laois produced a storming finish to edge out Offaly in a dramatic Leinster MHC quarter-final at O'Connor Park, Tullamore.

Mark Kavanagh shot 0-13 as Pat Critchley's side trumped their neighbours for the third year in-a-row. All is not lost for Offaly who will get another chance against Wexford, who beat Meath in Navan.

Joe Erritty's charges got off to a flying start and led by 2-5 to 0-4 after nine minutes thanks to goals from Cillian Kiely and Jordan Fogarty. They were still in the driving seat at half-time, leading 2-12 to 0-13.

With Kavanagh to the fore, the visitors narrowed the gap on the restart before Eoin Cahill netted Offaly's third goal in the 37th minute to put five between the sides again, 3-12 to 0-16. But it was all Laois after that. Kavanagh gave them the lead for the first time in injury-time before Andrew Mortimer fired over the insurance point.
