Under 16s
Our girls played their third match in this year's Championship last Wednesday when they welcomed St Rynaghs to Kinnitty in what was a repeat of last year's Under 15B1 final with Kinnitty taking the honours on that occasion when they won by 2 points. This match would prove to be a similarly tight contest and our girls' toughest so far this year.
When play got underway, St Rynagh's opened the scoring after 5 minutes when Niamh Sheehy hit over. Amber Mortimer equalised minutes later before Sheehy restored her team's lead. Kinnitty then took control of the scoring hitting 4 points without reply to lead 6 points to 2 at half time with Caitlin O'Neill, Katie Standish pointing for the home team along with three from Amber Mortimer, who converted two frees and hit a super point from a narrow angle.
Mortimer would hit the opening point of the second half before St Rynaghs hit a purple patch when Niamh Sheehy scored four points for her team. A point by Meadbh Dooley helped settle Kinnitty nerves and an Aoibhe Longworth goal gave her team some breathing space. But Sheehy was proving to be a real threat at this stage, winning any balls that came her way and making the most of her opportunities. In the space of three minutes she converted two frees and found the back of the Kinnitty net to leave scores level with time running out.
Credit to the Kinnitty girls who showed great resolve and did not panic. With two minutes of injury time played they worked the ball up the pitch and substitute Kate Harris hit over what would prove to be the winning score. Sheehy did have one final opportunity to snatch a draw for her team. She was flawless all evening with her shooting and when St Rynaghs won a free with the clock ticking down the Kinnitty supporters must have feared the worst but for once, the St Rynaghs sharpshooter's shot dropped short and the home side cleared their lines to claim a hard found win. Final score, Kinnitty 1-9, St Rynaghs 1-8.

Our girls travelled to Coolderry on Friday evening to play their second match in this year's league but came up against a strong Naomh Brid side who unfortunately swept aside the Kinnitty challenge with ease.
Under 12 League
Our Under 12 girls played their third match in this year's League on Monday when they played Belmont in Kinnitty. The girls had a great first half and quickly built up a comfortable lead hitting two goals from Emily McLoughlin and Emma Robinson before Michaela Blake and Aoibheann Dooley struck two beautiful points. With 15 minutes gone Belmont hit their first score of the game when they popped over a free, but it was cancelled out by a goal from Amy Delaney before the skillful Aoibheann Dooley hit over her second point of the half to leave Kinnitty leading 12 points to 1 at half time.
With such a lead the Kinnitty coaches began giving their substitutes some game time and while a point from Emma Robinson extended her team's lead, the Belmont team battled well and were rewarded with three points and two goals without reply from the home team to leave the Kinnitty comfortable winners 15 points to 6.
Afterwards our Under 11 team played Belmont in what was a tightly contested game. Belmont had the upper hand in the first half, scoring a goal and a point without reply. In the second half Clodagh Kealey scored a goal for Kinnitty and while the team were much improved in the second half, unfortunately they were unable to get any additional scores to leave Belmont taking the spoils.
Well done to both our teams who played some excellent camogie much to the delight of both their coaches and supporters.
