Kerry's All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Garry O'Mahony passed away on Monday.

O'Mahony was between the sticks when the Kingdom defeated Dublin by 0-12 to 1-6 in the 1955 All-Ireland final. He also won county SFCs with John Mitchels in 1952 and '59.

The Tralee man also played in goal for Kerry in the 1954 All-Ireland decider, when Meath came out on top. Incidentally, the Royal County were captained that day by the late Peter McDermott, who passed away a fortnight ago.

O'Mahony was in goal for the opening round of the 1956 Munster championship but lost his place to Donal Marcus O'Neill later that year.

Garry emigrated to England for a spell but had returned home and was a keen Kerry supporter.
