Vaughan is Sports Star of the Month
August 17, 2012
Iveleary's Cathal Vaughan has been honoured with the 96/C103 Cork GAA Sports Star of the Month Award for August.
A county minor footballer for the past two years, Vaughan received his award at the Rochestown Park Hotel this week after playing a starring role for Iveleary in their recent historic Cork U21FC 'B' final victory over Kildorrey.
"It was unbelievable to win a county from a terrific team effort," he told The Corkman.
"We're a small club, next season we may be unable to field a team because of a lack of numbers. For myself, it's satisfying after the disappointment of Macroom De La Salle (who lost this year's Munster Colleges SFC final) and the Cork minor results."
Praising Cathal for his performances, Cork chairman Bod Ryan commented: "Cathal is a talented young player, part of the Macroom Colleges team and Cork minor panel. Significantly, Cathal was central to a terrific Iveleary performance that landed a special county title on showing true West Muskerry spirit. Enjoy the accolades Cathal, hopefully bigger days will come along in your career."
