St Joseph's GAA Notes

January 25, 2024

Successful AGM’s held recently:

St Josephs GAA and St Josephs LGFA both held their Annual General Meetings in recent weeks at the Horseleap Streamstown Community Centre.

St Josephs GAA AGM was held on Sunday 7th January and was very well attended. The reports on the night showed a healthy situation looking back on a successful year which yielded a Division 4 league title and progress to the semi final of the Junior Championship. Those at the helm remain the same with Daire Lynam, Aidan Walsh and Ronan Farrell staying on as Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively and Ronan Mc Donnell and Padraig Seery retaining their positions as Underage Chairman and Secretary.

St Josephs LGFA held their AGM on Friday 12th January and they reported back on a superb year which saw the club claim a maiden Intermediate Championship and sees the Ladies ply their trade at Senior level for 2024. At the helm, Ita Kearnery replaces Anselm Conlon as Chairperson for the year ahead.

Dinner Dance 2024:

The Dinner dance is on Saturday 2nd March 2024 in the Bloomfield House Hotel where the presentation of the Ladies IFC medals and the Mens League Medals will take centre stage. Tickets cost €50 per head and will be on sale in the Community Centre on Friday 26th January. Last year's event was a great night so let’s make this years equally memorable.

Referees Required:

Each club is being tasked with recruiting referees for the coming year. Candidates must be aged 18 and upwards and a training course for prospective referees will be held in the coming weeks. Full details are on our Facebook page.

New Club app:

From the start of February, we are moving to a new online platform where we plan to have a central hub for all our social media, information and online funding. The app is currently in final testing and details will be distributed to internal groups in the coming week before going live the following week.

Sigerson Cup:

Well done to Mikey Lynam who was part of the SETU Carlow side which participated in the Sigerson cup over the past fortnight. Great to see our players getting deserved recognition for their abilities.

Items for Notes:

Regrettably, we had gotten lazy about putting in notes in the weekly papers over the past while so our club PR people hope to have notes in for most weeks. Anyone who wants items included, may email them to [email protected] by 6pm each Saturday evening.
