Scór na nÓg

First Rounds 2026.

Ballycomoyle was very well represented at the Westmeath Scór na nÓg first rounds, which were held on Thursday night in Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn, Mullingar and on Friday night in Coole.

Thursday, October 22nd:

On Thursday night the Ballycomoyle Ladies contingent represented the club exceptionally well.

The first competition Ballycomoyle was represented in on Thursday was the Solo Singing. Firstly we had Beibhínn Fagan, who gave a lovely performance of ‘Isle of Hope’. Our 2nd Solo Singing competitor was Beibhínn’s sister, Muirne, who performed ‘Four and Nine’ beautifully. Unfortunately neither of the girls got the nod from the adjudicator in a hotly contested competition, with 8 competitors, but they should both be very proud of themselves.

In the Recitation competition the club representatives were Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, who performed an extract from the John B Keane play ‘Moll’. Cliodhna performed really well and was unlucky not to qualify for the semi-final next weekend.

In the Ballad Group competition Ballycomoyle were ably represented by Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Caireann Molloy, Muirne Fagan and Beibhínn Fagan. The girls gave a lovely performance of their two songs and have qualified for next weekend’s semi-final.

The next competition Ballycomoyle had representatives in was the music competition. The standard in this competition was exceptionally high, with 5 groups taking part. Unfortunately, our group hasn’t qualified for the next round but they gave a great performance. Our musicians on the night were Muirne Fagan, Fionn Murphy, Hugh Ó Catháin and Clíodhna Fitzpatrick.

The final competition of the evening was the Set Dancing. Our Set Dancing team members were Christina Corrigan, Aoife McKinney, Muirne Fagan, Beibhínn Fagan, Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Ellie Murtagh, Mia Murray and Teegan Rooney. The girls danced exceptionally well and got the nod from the adjudicators to progress to the County Semi- Final.

Friday, October 23rd.

Ballycomoyle hosted the first round that was held on Friday night, in Coole Hall, and had representatives in 4 of the competitions: Solo Singing, Recitation, Ballad Group and Novelty Act.

Starting off Ballycomoyle’s representation on the night was Holly McCormack in the Solo singing. Holly was first on stage, in this competition, and gave a lovely performance of ‘The Bantry Girls Lament’. Holly was unlucky not to qualify to proceed to the next round but she should be very proud of herself.

In the Recitation competition the club representative was Alannah Styles. Alannah gave a great rendition of ‘My First Holy Communion’ and has, deservingly, qualified for the county semi-final next weekend.

In the Ballad Group competition Ballycomoyle were ably represented by Holly Mc Cormack, Kate Tyrell, Alannah Styles, Sansa Gill and Rian Moynagh. The group gave a lovely performance of their two songs and have qualified for the next weekend’s semi-final.

The Ballycomoyle Novelty Act has qualified for the semi-final after giving great performances of their act. Group members were Hollly McCormack, Jack and Kate Tyrell, Callie Cheevers, Síomha Fagan, Sansa Gill , Alannah Styles and Adam Ben Aicha.

Thanks to everyone helped make the round, the club hosted in Coole, run smoothly and successfully.

Congratulations to the five acts that have qualified for the semi-final, which Ballycomoyle will host, in Coole Hall on Sunday next, November 1st, at 2pm. We wish all our competitors the very best of luck on Sunday.
