St Michaels v Athlone

On Thursday evening last 9/7/26 St Michaels traveled to Athlone to contest the 2nd round of the championship. 

A depleted panel ment the visitors had only the bare 15 players.

Even though the scoreline suggested a one sided game St Michaels players held their own up until the final quarter. 

With no fresh legs to call on as Athlone emptied their bench to pull away for a convincing win.

On Saturday morning last 11/7/26 . Ballycomoyle attended Under 8 girls go games in CFCW. We played Ballymachugh and CFCW in a very well organised blitz. The girls had great fun playing football in the sun. Thanks to all the young girls and their parents that travelled to Castletown and we hope all the girls had a great morning of football and fun!

 

Ballycomoyle's under-14 boys travelled to Athlone Wednesday evening last 8/7/26 to play the second round of the Under-14 Division 2 Championship. Despite the very hot conditions, the team put in a determined performance as they continued their championship campaign.

Athlone started strongly from the throw-in and displayed an impressive level of skill throughout the opening half. They built up a commanding lead and went into the break ahead by 6-8 to 2-4.

Despite the sizeable halftime deficit, Ballycomoyle came out for the second half with great determination and never let their heads drop. The boys continued to battle until the final whistle, showing tremendous spirit and commitment despite the challenging conditions. While the result did not go our way against a very strong Athlone side, the game proved to be a valuable learning experience. It highlighted the standard of football the team is capable of reaching with continued hard work, training and development in the years ahead.

The Ballycomoyle ladies played their final league game on Tuesday last 7/7/26 at home vs Athlone. This rearranged fixture provided the opportunity for the girls to reach a league final with a win. The girls were quick out of the blocks in very warm conditions and they lead by 3 points at the HT break. The 2nd half was very competitive with both sides enjoying spells of possession and stringing some fantastic scores together. The Ballycomoyle girls showed great resilience and finished the game strongly running out winners on a scoreline of 3-12 to 2-8. Next up a league final! 

Many congratulations to all our ladies players and Management team on their fantastic win .
