Mullingar Shamrocks GAA Notes

ACL Div.1:  Mullingar Shamrocks 2-14 Moate All-Whites 1-9

Shamrocks began well and inspired by Dean Moore's sharp finishing held an interval lead of 1-8 to 0-5. Dean opened the scoring with a two-pointer and Donnacha Maguire closed the half with a like score. The first-cousin midfield partnership of Donnacha and Ty Masterson continued the good form displayed against Coralstown-Kinnegad. Ben Sheerin travelled from corner-back and pointed.

Moate began the second half with 4 unanswered points. A few cards were dished out during this phase - a red for Moate and blacks for Adam Glynn and Ty took them out of the running for the requisite ten minutes each. Dean Moore halted the trend with a two pointer and a Donnacha Maguire goal set up the victory. Points from Dean and Paul Keating completed a good night's work.

Mullingar Shamrocks: Adam Buckley, Adam Glynn, Efe Siode, Ben Sheerin (0-1);

Those who like an abundance of scores in their Gaelic football could do worse than come out and support the Mullingar Shamrocks Div. 5 side.

Under-12 Girls in Ballynacargy

On Tuesday, May 5, the Under-12 girls travelled to Ballynacargy for a Go Games match against Clann Gaels. The conditions were ideal for football and the girls produced an excellent display against a very good Clann Gaels team.

The first half was closely contested, with Shamrocks defending very well under pressure from the home team. In the second half the girls played some of their best football of the year to date, with great passing and support play and kicking some lovely scores.

All 19 Shamrocks girls played their part in a very good team performance. The girls are training with great enthusiasm and commitment, and and their skills and teamwork are improving with every game.  Well done to all the girls and thanks to Clann Gaels for hosting a very enjoyable evening of football.
