Scór na nÓg
The county final of Scór na nÓg was held in The Downs on Saturday evening last, November 15th.
Proceedings kicked off with the Quiz competition. Ballycomoyle was well represented with 2 teams participating in the Table Quiz. Both teams acquitted themselves very well but finished outside the top 3, who made it to the stage. Team members were Will Keogh, Orán Coyle, Billy and Danny Ginnell and Emmet Devine, Charlie Crone, Tom Keogh and Jack Tyrell.
In the Recitation competition we had two competitors from Ballycomoyle: Kate Tyrell and Cliodhna Fitzpatrick. Kate was the first competitor to take to the stage in the competition and she gave a great performance of 'The final in Cusack Park’. Cliodhna gave an outstanding performance of an extract from the John B Keane play ‘Moll’. Unfortunately, neither of our girls got the nod from the adjudicators and when the results were announced it was Eoghan McKenna from St Lomans who was crowned county champion. Best of luck to Eoghan in the Leinster semi-final.
We had 2 groups in the Novelty Act competition. 'The Children of Lir - The Real Story' was performed by Tom Keogh, Jack and Kate Tyrell, Beibhínn Fagan, Emmet Devine, Charlie Crone, Alannah Styles and Adam Ben Aicha. 'Voting Day at School' was performed by Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Caragh Masterson, Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne, Evie Nolan, Callie Cheevers, Síomha Fagan and Sansa Gill. Both groups gave brilliant performances in a very tough competition. Best of luck to The Downs group who got the nod from the judges in this one as they proceed to the next round.
The Set Dancing competition was won by the Bunbrosna team, who received the trophy in memory of Sarah Bardon, which is presented each year to the winning all girls set. We wish the Bunbrosna Set Dancers and all the Westmeath representatives the very best of luck in the Leinster semi-final next Sunday afternoon in The Downs.
