Scór na nÓg
Semi-Final.
Ballycomoyle was very well represented at the Westmeath Scór na nÓg semi-final, which was held on Friday night in Coole.
In total 7 clubs competed, including Ballycomoyle and many clubs had 2 entries in a number of competitions. Ballycomoyle had participants in all disciplines, except Figure Dancing.
Starting off the night’s entertainment was Beibhínn Fagan in the Solo singing. Beibhínn was first on stage and gave a lovely performance of ‘Red is the Rose’. Our 2nd Solo Singing competitor was Beibhínn’s sister, Muirne, who performed ‘Four and Nine’ beautifully. Unfortunately neither of the girls got the nod from the adjudicator in a hotly contested competition, with 9 competitors, but they should both be very proud of themselves.
In the Recitation competition the club representatives were Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, who performed an extract from the John B Keane play ‘Moll’ and Kate Tyrell, whose recitation was ‘The Final in Cusack Park’. Both girls performed really well and have, deservingly, qualified for the county final next weekend.
In the Ballad Group competition Ballycomoyle were ably represented by Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Caireann Molloy, Muirne Fagan, Beibhínn Fagan and Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne. The girls gave a lovely performance of their two songs and were unlucky not to qualify for the final next weekend.
Both groups in the Novelty Act competition have qualified for the final after giving great performances of their acts. Group members were Tom Keogh, Jack and Kate Tyrell, Beibhínn Fagan, Emmet Devine, Charlie Crone, Alannah Styles and Adam Ben Aicha. The second group members were Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Caragh Masterson, Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne, Evie Nolan, Callie Cheevers, Síomha Fagan and Sansa Gill.
Again we had two groups representing the club in the next competition - the music. The standard in this competition was exceptionally high, with 6 groups taking part. Unfortunately, neither of our groups qualified for the next round but both gave great performances. Our musicians on the night were Ellie Murtagh, Fionn Murphy, Niamh Louise Ledwith Byrne, Muirne Fagan, Kedagh Devine, Fiachna Devine, Béibhínn Fagan and Clíodhna Fitzpatrick.
The final competition of the evening was the Set Dancing. Our Set Dancing team members were Christina Corrigan, Aoife McKinney, Teegan Brady, Muirne Fagan, Beibhínn Fagan, Cliodhna Fitzpatrick, Ellie Murtagh and Teegan Rooney. The girls danced exceptionally well and were unlucky not to get the nod from the adjudicators and progress to the County Final.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the semi-final run smoothly and successfully.
Congratulations to the four acts that have qualified for the final, which will be held in The Downs GAA Centre on Saturday next, November 15th, at 7pm. The final will be preceded, at 5.30pm, by the Question Time competition. Ballycomoyle will be represented by two teams in the quiz. We wish all our competitors the very best of luck on Saturday.
Minor ladies football championship Result.
Sunday: 9/11/25.
Our minor ladies played their last group game of the championship this morning in Ballycomoyle. On a glorious morning for football, both teams very evenly matched and played some superb football. Ballycomoyle with only 16 girls really never let up against Shamrocks 22. Both teams traded great scores, and at Half time score.
Ballycomoyle 3-07
Shamrocks 3-09.
There was nothing in it.
Onto second half and again Ballycomoyle went at it hard, showing massive effort, We got some lovely scores of great teamwork. Unfortunately, again, this game changed on having a panel, and Shamrocks used their to effect. In the end, Ballycomoyle simply ran out of steam, allowing some simple scores.
Full Time. Ballycomoyle 4-14 Shamrocks 6-18.
Our girls are to be commended for there never say die attitude.
We now await the quarter-final draw. Many thanks to Referee Noel Morgan. And to our supporters for coming out and supporting our ladies.
