Underage street league

The club is proposing to run a street league in Kilbeggan in the coming weeks.

It would consist of two separate competitions – one made up of four teams of U10 players and the other made up of four teams of players from age 10 up to U14. These would be all mixed ability teams of boys and girls which would be recruited through our current players groups and through the local primary and secondary schools. It is intended that each competition would be played over two Sunday afternoons in October.

Each team would play two games on each Sunday. After their third game, the top two teams would play in a final and the bottom two teams would play in a final. Medals would be given to winners or all those taking part.

Go Games rules would apply so players can only take two plays of the ball before having to pass it. Games would be 30 minutes in duration and volunteer referees to be agreed for all games. Each team would require two mentors to be recruited from our group of mentors and parents to encourage and organise their small group of players.

Strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines is required by parents, players and mentors.

New ladies football manager

Mick Murphy has been appointed as our ladies football manager for 2021.

A former Kilbeggan footballer and accomplished runner, Mick is an experienced strength and conditioning coach who succeeds Martin Maher in the role. The Donegal native will be targeting a junior championship with the ladies after they surrendered their intermediate status a few weeks ago. He is wished every success.

Lotto

Last week’s lucky numbers were 3, 9, 13 and 20. Sinead Bracken, Angela Doonan and Ann McDaniel were the Match 3 winners. The jackpot has now been capped at €16,000 with the draw being streamed live on Facebook every Tuesday at 9pm approximately. Be sure to buy your ticket online!
