Senior B Championship semi-final
Crookedwood 1-17 Bownstown 2-12. We qualified for the Senior B final by virtue of a narrow victory over Brownstown. This was a close, tough game throughout and two points in the dying minutes got us across the line. Brownstown played with the wind in the first half and were a point up at half-time, 0-9 to 0-8. Brendan McCarthy struck for our goal in the first minute of the second half and a further unanswered two points put us four to the good. In the fifth minute Brownstown got their first goal to leave the minimum between us. It was point for point after that, before a purple patch saw us scoring three points in a row to go four clear again. Brownstowns second goal arrived at this juncture and with ten minutes to go it was all to play for. A scoring lull ensued though as both sides pushed hard for scores before a point from our opponents levelled matters with two minutes left on the clock. Thankfully, two points in as many minutes sealed the victory and put us into the final, where Fr.Daltons will provide the opposition in two weeks’ time.
