Waterford legend Kevin Moran says he has been grateful for the amount of messages and well-wishes he’s received since announcing his retirement this week.
Moran played 143 games with the Deise men across league and championship, playing in three All-Ireland SHC finals and captaining his county to National League honours in 2015.
He also won two Munster titles and two All-Star awards during a career which spanned 16 seasons with Waterford.
Speaking on Off The Ball yesterday, the 34-year-old said that he had been considering retirement from the inter-county game for the past few months.
"I didn’t expect the amount of messages and well-wishes I got. It's been a good week."
He added: "It was in the back of my head that I was 90% sure I was at the end of my intercounty career.
"At the end of last weekend, I made up my mind. The decision is made now and I'm quite happy about it. It’s a bit of closure.
"It was just time to call a halt to it."
