Cavan remain in pole position in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League after sneaking past London in Ruislip this afternoon.

Mickey Graham's men bounced back from last weekend's loss to Tipperary to take a narrow 1-15 to 2-11 victory in the English capital, a defeat that more than likely spells the end of London's promotion bid after a whirlwind start to the campaign that saw them win their first three outings.

The 2020 Ulster champions were quickly into their stride and established an early 1-5 to 0-0 lead thanks to points from Caoimhin O’Reilly, Cormac O’Reilly, Jason McLoughlin and Paddy Lynch, followed by a James Smith goal.

London fought back with a goal of their own through Henry Walsh to trail by 1-8 to 1-2 at the break, and reduced the deficit to three points with 17 minutes remaining.

Cavan regained the initiative with substitute Conor Madden also getting on the scoresheet but were forced to endure a nervy finish as Chris Farley's injury-time goal from the penalty spot left a point between the sides in the end.

Tipperary, who beat Carlow 2-16 to 0-11 later in the day, are still in contention for promotion going into the final round next weekend, as are Sligo and Leitrim.

Without talisman Niall Murphy, Sligo recovered from a 0-4 to 1-7 half-time deficit to see off 11-man Waterford by the narrowest of margins at Fraher Field, 0-15 to 1-11.

Meanwhile, Andy Moran's Leitrim enjoyed a 3-9 to 1-11 win over Wexford in Carrick-on-Shannon.
