Former Tyrone All-Ireland winner Peter Donnelly has resigned from his position as the county's strength and conditioning coach.
The news emerged at Tuesday night's county board meeting and it is believed that negotiations are on-going to try and persuade the Coalisland man to come back on board.
Tyrone chairperson Roisin Jordan confirmed that the county are currently in talks with Donnelly, who is thought to have been frustrated after numerous attempts to set-up a fresh pathway for preparing players from the new Academy through to senior level fell on deaf ears.
Speaking to The Irish News, a former Tyrone player, who did not wish to be named, said: "Peter Donnelly's value to Tyrone GAA is being questioned by the county executive.
"It's believed that this has prompted his decision to tender his resignation."
The Red Hands take on Derry in Omagh this Saturday night in a crunch Division Two clash, while the county's U21s, who Donnelly also works with, are currently preparing for the first round of their All-Ireland title defence against Cavan on Wednesday night week.
