Strabane Sigersons club notes

September 23, 2020

COVID-19 Update;

The committee of Strabane Sigersons have been made aware of a positive COVID-19 test result for one of our adult players. All close contacts have been contacted by PHA contact tracing and are self-isolating. The player has not been on the club premises, however the club committee have made a decision, as a precaution,  to suspend adult activity until further notice.

As the affected player hasn’t been in contact with coaches or players in our youth structure, youth training/matches will continue as directed by GAA, under strict COVID-19 guidelines. We ask parents of youth players to continue to monitor temperatures before training/matches and ask that ALL PLAYERS FILL OUT THE COVID QUESTIONNAIRE BEFORE ALL TRAINING SESSIONS/MATCHES.

We appreciate the concerns of everyone at this time and wish to reassure you that every precaution is and will be taken.

RIP Eugene McGarrigle;

Everyone at Stabane Sigersons are deeply saddened by the passing of Eugene McGarrigle.

He was a member of the Strabane Lámh Dhearg side of 1973 that won the West Tyrone Junior League and Championship titles and sadly is the first member of this squad to pass away.

A great character of Strabane who was widely respected and liked. In Tattyreagh on Saturday at our Reserve Championship game there was a minute silence in honour of Eugene.

We would like to pass on the condolences of everyone at Sigersons to the McGarrigle family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Adult Men;

Congratulations to our Reserve men who defeated Tattyreagh 1-12 to 2-3 in the opening round the Intermediate Championship on Saturday past. The lads now face Beragh next weekend in the Quarter Final.

Sympathies;

The club extends its deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Jim Doherty, Bridge Street.

Deepest sympathy to all the bereaved families on their sad losses - Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Eunan Harkin P.R.O
