Urney St. Columba's - Club Notes

September 15, 2020

ADULT FOOTBALL (Daoine Fásta)

CHAMPIONSHIP

Urney played Derrytresk on Sunday evening in Garvaghey. Urney started slowly and found themselves trailing at half time. A great second half fight back ensured the game went to extra time, and after two 10 mins additional periods the 2 sides could not be separated so we headed for penalties.

Thankfully the Urney men held their nerve and Derrytresk found goalkeeper Keith Nelis in top form, ensuring Urney progressed to the Quarter final and now face Kildress. This game will be played this Sunday 21st September in Killyclogher, throw in 1pm.

Due to Covid 19 all championship matches will be ticketed and each club will receive a limited number of tickets.

There will be no concessions, all tickets must be paid for before collection and it is 1 ticket per person.

Due to the tight turnaround in the games, we have decided to have an order night where you will pay for your ticket in advance of collection. We will take orders on Tuesday and Wednesday evening at the clubrooms between 7.00pm & 8pm

The committee's decision on allocation will be final.

We would like to thank regular sponsors Damien and Brian from Gallagher's Home for sponsoring last week's match ball.

The boys can be contacted at http://www.gallaghershome.co.uk/

or call 02871413040.

We encourage all our supporters, players and members to support our sponsors where possible.

Best of luck to the players and management ahead of Sunday's game.

Aghyaran 3-4

Well done to all the players and management. The girls have had a brilliant year once again and continue to get better and better. Special thanks as well to the management team of Carolanne and Sarah who have been brilliant with the girls all year. Well done everyone.

Our Under 12 boys played castlefin last week in a challenge game. Great display of football from all the lads. Well done all.

Commiserations to our Under 16 boys who lost out to Edendork in the semi final of the championship.

Final score

Urney/Naomh Eoghan 6-12

Edendork 5-16

It was a great game of football, just unlucky towards the end.

Our Under 10's travelled to Aghyaran last Saturday morning and once again continued to show improvement every week. These young stars of the future are putting in great work on the training field and at home. Training continues this Wednesday from 7-8.

Training has also started for our Under 16 and Under 14 ladies. It continues on Wednesday night in Clady from 7-8pm.

Girls in P7 and those who turned 14 AFTER 1st January are eligible to play.

CONGRATULATIONS (comhghairdeas)

Well done to club referee Michael Kelly who was the referee for Monday nights Junior Championship 1st round game between Coalisland (III's) and Brockagh. Well done Micky, and a special mention as well to Conor Lafferty who was an umpire in the game.

LOTTO (Crannchur)

Our latest Lockdown Lotto draw took place on Monday night 14th September Numbers are as follows, 8, 11, 13, 14.

No jackpot winners and no match 3 winners.

Our LOCKDOWN LOTTO will continue next week.

Envelopes will also be available in Flanagan's shop, Clady and can be left there for collection. Our collectors will call every Monday afternoon and any envelopes left will be added to our online sales and be included for that week's draw.

Over the last few months club income has been massively reduced and unfortunately the club still has bills to pay every week/month in order to keep our facilities going whether in use or not. We would like to urge all members to purchase at least 1 lotto per week.

Each Monday night our Lotto draw will take place live on the clubs Facebook page.

You can also play online via https://www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Urney%20GFC/lotto

Sign up now and have results sent directly to your email every week.

As with all club lottos, the committee decision is final.

Play now either online or envelopes in Flanagan's shop Clady. Good luck 💚💛🤞
