Orla O'Dwyer celebrates with the AFLW Premiership trophy.

Dublin’s Jennifer Dunne and Tipperary’s Orla O’Dwyer helped the Brisbane Lions to a comeback victory over the North Melbourne Kangaroos in the AFLW Grand Final at the weekend.

Dunne became the first player to win All-Ireland and AFLW titles in the same year, while O’Dwyer is only the second Irish player to win two AFLW titles after Clare’s Ailish Considine. With star forward Dakota Davidson to the fore, the Lions roared back to triumph 44-27 in front of over 12,000 spectators at Melbourne’s Ikon Park.

Ireland was also represented on the Kangaroos side by Cork’s Erika O’Shea and Niamh Martin from Tipperary.
