Geevagh notes

July 04, 2011
It was a vey successful weekend for our men's teams with our senior men securing their Division 1 status with a comprehensive win over Coolera/Strandhill. Our Juniors moved to second place in the Division 4 League with a good win over Bunninadden on Sunday evening. The junior team are now in second place and a win in their final game would guarantee promotion to Division 3. The team on duty and scorers were: Paul O'Reilly, Dermot McDermott, Tom Curreen, Michael Byrne, Dominick Kearns 0-1, Daniel Smith, Shane Hargadon, Shay Moystn 0-5(2f), Michael O'Rourke 0-1, Thomas Lavin, Colm McManus 0-3(1f), Tony McDonagh 1-0, Tom Curneen 0-1, Ian Cullen, Joe Kilcullen 1-2. Subs used Tomás O'Reilly 0-1, Declan Duffy 0-1.

Our senior men completed their league campaign with a 1-15 to 1-7 win over Coolera/Strandhill in Geevagh on Saturday evening. This was a vital game as a loss would have meant demotion to Division 2 and the lads responded to the challenge and produced their best performance of the year to date. Kenneth Sweeney returned from London to play his last league game for the club this year and we wish him well with his new London club St Ciarans and we look forward to his return.

Team: Mark McGrath, Damien Cogan, Desmod McTiernan, Liam McDonagh, Stephen Mullaney, Sean O'Rourke, Enda McManus, Kevin Byrne, Shane McManus, Kenneth Sweeney 0-3 (1f), Pat Cawley 0-5, Pat Hughes 0-3, David O'Reilly, Cormac Hughes 1-2, Colm McManus 0-2. Subs used: Joe Mulvanney, Daniel Smith.

It is back to the senior championship next weekend when we take on Curry in the second round. This game is on Saturday evening at 7.30 in Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry and would ask all our supporters to come out on Saturday evening and get behind the lads.

Our minor boys are away to St Michael in the Shield SF on Thursday evening at 7pm while our U14 boys play St Johns in Geevagh on this Friday evening.
