The club can now look forward to an exciting dinner dance with the presentation of the county minor medals. The minor club would also like to thank all the supporters who turned out on Saturday and the parents of the players for their co-operation during the year. Eire og club notes The Lynch Roofing sponsored Intermediate men's team avoided the dreaded drop to Junior thanks to a hard fought victory over Castlerea in the relegation play-off in Ballinlough on Saturday. It finished 10 points to seven in favour of the EirÈ Og men, the result bringing the curtain down on one of the most disappointing years ever for adult football at the club. A massive turnaround in attitude and commitment is needed by all involved next year to revolve the team's fortunes. The under-16's lost out away to St. Aidan's in the league last Thursday. It finished 3-10 to 2-8 in favour of the home side in a lively encounter under lights at Ballyforan. There's the possibility of the under-21 championship starting this coming weekend ñ check fixtures for details. The under-12 girls have qualified for the county final after defeating Kilglass Gales in a nerve wrecking semi-final. Kilglass scored two goals in the final minutes of the game but Eire Og held on to win by a point. The final is fixed for this Saturday. Check fixtures for time and venue. The girls would appreciate support on what will be their final outing for the year. A club meeting is due to be held in the club house this Thursday evening, October 9th, at 9pm. At last week's club meeting it was decided to hold the AGM prior to Christmas this year - exact details of that to follow later. The annual club lotto subscription is due for renewal in the coming weeks. Those wishing to continue their support can contact any member of the club executive for details. Best wishes to club player Darren McDermott as he recuperates following his recent knee surgery. Also the club wishes a speedy recovery to Alvin Dunleavy after his recent surgery. Padraig Pearses Ladies Senior Football Championship Final: Pearses 1-4 St Brigids 2-8 A youthful Pearses Ladies Senior Football team put up a brave display over a strong St Brigid's side in last Saturday's final played in dreadful conditions in Knockrochery. Playing into a strong breeze Brigids raced into a 1-3 to 0-0 lead but three Stephanie Carty points kept Pearses in touch to leave the half-time score Brigids 1-4 Pearses 0-3. Pearses started the second half with a fine goal from Helen Kenny to leave the bare minimum between the sides but Brigids responded immediately with a goal of their own and despite a brave Pearses performance they held on for victory. This was a fine effort from Padraig Kelly's side and as a young team will only improve over the coming years. The ladies would like to thank the catering committee for the food provided on the night and to Kevin Flynn for the transport to and from the pitch.
