A win for our side will ensure they stay in the intermediate championship for another year. Best of luck to the team and management. The under-16's league game away to St. Aidan's was postponed as a mark of respect to the late Gerry Clarke. The under-12 girls were defeated by Roscommon Gaels in the championship quarter-final last week. They put up a brave performance against a very strong Gaels side. This result means the girls will play in the Division One 'B' semi-final. That's against Kilglass Gaels this Wednesday evening at 6.15pm in Loughglynn. A club meeting will be held in the clubhouse this Thursday evening, October 2nd, at 9pm sharp. All members are asked to attend. Best wishes to the Ballaghaderreen senior team in their championship quarter-final replay this Sunday. Hopefully their recent training at our grounds will see them through this time round! The club wishes to extend sympathy to the Murphy and Clarke families, Lisacul, on their recent bereavements. Kilmore club notes The National Automation sponsored U-16 team were defeated by St Croans on Thursday last in the league. This weekend sees the National Automation sponsored minor team compete in the county minor championship final for the Brian King memorial cup against St Barrys. The team have worked very hard to get to the final and hope they can now go on and do the business on the day. All roads will lead to Kilglass on Saturday evening at 5pm and the club urges everyone in the parish, young and old to come out to the match and give the lads that extra push in the final. The club also asks as many people as possible to put a Kilmore flag outside your house in support for the lads on Saturday. The U-8 team took part in an blitz hosted by Shannon Gaels on Saturday and the club would like to thank Shannon Gaels foe inviting Kilmore to take part. Anyone who hasn't yet bought a ticket for the Roscommon G.A.A. draw is asked to contact any member of the executive in the coming week. Padraig Pearses club notes A very important month in the history of Padraig Pearses GAA club commences with the KLR sponsored Senior Hurlers taking on Tremane in the Semi-Final of the Championship in Athleague this Saturday at 5pm. Tom Carey's charges will have to do without the injured Alan Loughnane for this encounter. Then the Oliver Brooks sponsored Senior Ladies take on the much vaunted St Brigids in their final also on Saturday in Knockcrokery at 5.30pm. Pearses have a very young team and are building for the future. However, every player will be looking to perform to the best of their ability on the day. The ladies have made a huge effort this year and all support from the club would be very welcome. It is most unfortunate that both games clash as our club members would like to take in the two matches and maybe the powers that be can still find a way for this to happen. The Senior Football Final has been switched to October 19th if our hurlers win, if not the game will be on the 12th. Please show your support for all teams by flying your team's colours. Flags can be purchased in the clubhouse for ?5. Padraig Pearses Ladies Football Notes U16 Football Championship Four Roads defeated Padraig Pearses by 2 points 3-07 to 3-05 in a very entertaining U16 B championship semi final played in Pearses on Tuesday 23rd September. Nicola Downey kicked the first point of the game for Pearses but Four Roads dominated the rest of the half scoring 3-04 although a goal from Nicola just before half time having been set up by Eva Keogh helped reduce the deficit to 7 points. The Pearses ladies played their best football of the year in the 2nd half and brought the game to their visitors but despite two great goals from Danielle Kenny and Katie Kelly their fight back fell just short. The panel is very young with the majority of the squad underage again next year so there is certainly hope for the future. It would be unfair to signal out any one individual as, on the day, every one of the 16 players involved played a huge role particularly in the second half when we brought the game to Four Roads. Squad: K Clogher, A Clogher, N Ryan, R Kelly, S Cullen, P Kelly, M Flynn, C O'Murchu-Flynn, D Kenny, J Kelly, S Finnerty (Capt), L Payne, E Keogh, N Downey, K Kelly, A Fahy U12 Football Championship Pearses caused the shock of the year when defeating a highly fancied Boyle team by 4-00 to 1-07 in the U12 A quarter-final on Wednesday the 24th September. The Pearses ladies now face St Brigids in the semi final to be played on the 1st October in Pearses at 6.15pm. All support would be appreciated. Also congratulations to Aine Ryan who followed in her father's footsteps and graced the Croke Park pitch when she was selected to take part in the All Ireland Mini 7's on All Ireland final day. Pearses brought a bus to Croke Park and everyone from children to parents had a great day. Up For The Match: An "Up For The Match" night will take place in the clubhouse on Friday 17th October. The night will feature a reunion of the 1968 Senior Football Finalists. Festivities will commence at 9.30pm and all are welcome. Scór notes A meeting took place recently of Scór in Pearses clubhouse. As this is the 40th anniversary of Scór in Co.Roscommon and as concern has been expressed of the low numbers of participants from South Roscommon clubs, a big effort is being made this year to take part. Pearses intends to participate in both Scór na bpaisti (National schools)and Scór na n-og(U-17's) in Oct and Nov 08. Much help is needed and would be appreciated. The next meeting takes place on Mon 29th Sept @ 9p.m. in Pearses Clubhouse. New members most welcome. A local club Final will take in Pearses on Sun 19th Oct @5p.m to send 2 participants for each event to Scór na N-Og.
