Emyvale 0-19
Cremartin 1-8
Emyvale captain Daniel McMahon put on an exhibition of point scoring as a sharper, more clinical Emyvale clinched the Monaghan Junior football championship with something to spare over an out of sorts Cremartin, who finished the game with 14 players following the dismissal of Niall Flanagan on a 2nd yellow card 10 minutes into the 2nd half.
Emyvale led at half-time by 0-7 to 0-4 and consolidated in the early stages of the second-half to open a 6 points lead. Cremartin got the lead back to 3 at one stage but disciplined defending by Emyvale and punishing Cremartin on counter attacks, particularly from frees, saw them open a 9 points lead with 4 minutes of normal time remaining, Cremartin pulled back a couple of late points but Emyvale closed it out with a couple of late points to win by 8 at the finish. They must however await the outcome of the replay of the Cavan Junior championship final to find out who they will play in the Ulster club Junior championship on October 13th.
