Paul Finlay says a huge task awaits Ballybay this weekend as they get set to face Crossmaglen Rangers in the opening round of Ulster club senior football championship.

Last month saw Ballybay crowned Monaghan champions for the first time in 10 years after defeating Scotstown by three points to end their three-in-a-row bid.

The Farney champions now enter the Ulster race on Saturday and former county man Finlay hopes that they can deliver a performance against the Orchard kingpins at the Athletic Grounds (7.15pm).

"We want to give a good account of ourselves; you never go out trying to do anything but that,” he told RTE Sport.

“We all know what Crossmaglen have in their locker in terms of tradition and experience at this level. It's a huge task that awaits Ballybay this weekend.

"All we can do is prepare as best we can and deliver a performance. We know we're capable of that and we'll see where that gets us."
