County Champions:

Last Saturday Corduff Gaels Division 2 U13 team ended their season on a high having been crowned Division 2 Cup champions. Across County Monaghan there was a buzz of U13 football in the air all day as Gerry's Prepared Veg and Gerry's Take Away Finals took centre stage and the Corduff Magheracloone final certainly added to the excitement  with the high calibre of football on display. Corduff,  Division 2 table toppers came into this match as favourites and they certainly didn't disappoint. The match got off to an energetic start and within 2 minutes the score was 2-0 to 1-0 to Corduff. Magheracloone played some lovely football and definitely challenged Corduff in the opening quarter and by the 1st water break the score was 3-02 to 2-1 to Corduff. Corduff continued to add to their tally stretching ahead but Magheracloone kept the challenge up. By halftime Corduff had the momentum with them  going 5 points up 3-06 to 3-01. The second half became a one sided affair with stylish play and finishing by Corduff proving povital as they pulled away and eased to victory on a final scoreline of 5-11 to 4-04. Corduff Gaels would like to congratulate the team and management of Diarmuid,Sean,Paddy,Sean and Adrian on this fantastic win. Corduff Ladies :

Corduff Ladies Juveniles: Minor Championship Final

Carrick Emmets was the venue for last Saturday's local derby between Corduff and Inniskeen in the Minor Division 3 decider. It was the second time these teams met recently with Inniskeen edging the last encounter. Corduff were hoping to make amends for the last day out and stated their intent from throw-in with an explosive start  going 1-1 up. Inniskeen responded and by the first water break they were ahead by a point 1-01 to 1-02. After the water break Inniskeen continued to dominate scoring 3 unanswered points. The play ebbed and flowed with the last 5 minutes of the half belonging to Corduff as they once again levelled matters by the interval on Corduff 2-03 Inniskeen 1-06.

It looked as if the second half would be a close affair but that wasn't to be as Inniskeen became more dominate with their shooting boots on and by the second water break they had stretched ahead by 6 points 3-08 to 2-05. It now appeared as if the game was drifting out of Corduff's control.  Even though they did reduce the margin by 2 points Inniskeen maintained control and eased to victory on a final score of 3-11 to 3-06 bringing the curtain down on what had been a brilliant season for this Corduff team.

As always we urge all players, members and parents to support our sponsors especially Orla. So, for all your beauty treatments contact Orla and her team in The Ivy who will be more than delighted to pamper you with one of their treatments etc.
