Toome club notes

September 15, 2020

RFC Group 1 Round 1: The reserves were out in their first match of this campaign with an away fixture against Clontibret, the lads were a little slow to get started and it took 10 minutes for us to get our first score, despite Toome having a lot of the play we went in at the water break trailing by a point, 0:02 - 0:01. the team came out with determination after the water break and started to rack up the scores with some impressive shooting, HT score 2:05 - 0:04. The start of the second half was slow and there were many missed chances by both sides, Clontibret were able to pull a goal back but 3 points for Toome cancelled that out and it remained 7 between them at the water break, 2:08 - 1:04. The last 15seen plenty of action and although Toome started to pull away some errors at the back meant Clontibret were not out of it, some good scores by the Toome men and a little conviction in their play saw them ride the storm and come out as comfortable winners. FT Score Toome 3:12 Clontibret 2:06.

Well done to the team and management on this win and good luck in the next fixture of this competition. The team has a Bye this week, upcoming fixtures as follows: 27th September home fixture against Tyholland, 4th October away fixture against Monaghan Harps, Sunday 11th October home fixture against Killeevan.

Training: Training for our Reserves and U15's continues, please ensure that you continue the safe return to play guidelines. In ongoing efforts to facilitate the return to play all guidelines need to be followed to facilitate this safe return. It is essential that all coaches, mentors, management, committee members, players and the parents of underage players complete the eLearning module prior to any return to the Club. It is also essential that all coaches, mentors, management, players and the parents of underage players complete the Health Questionnaire, this must be resubmitted prior to each training session and match.

U15 Division 3 Championship: U15’s continue training and will face a play-off this Saturday 19th September against Inniskeen away to decide if we go to the Cup or Shield semi-final, good luck to the team and management.

U13 Division 2 Championship: Our U13's play as Oram and were in the Division 2 shield final on Saturday last 12th September. This was against Aughnamullen in Cremartin. The team gave it their all but unfortunately, they were up against a strong opposition on the day. Giving away two early goals within the opening minutes meant this was going to be a tough ask, the lads went in at half time down 7 points behind. In the second the Oram lads came out strong and put away a few scores and after the water break pulled the game to only 2 points in it. Oram then struggled to get the ball up the other end of the field and Aughnamullen went all out on the attack to win the game as deserved winners. Hard luck to the team and management, no doubt this team will be back better and stronger.
