
Donaghmore Ashbourne 1-10 Simonstown 0-9
Donaghmore Ashbourne claimed the Feis Cup with four points to spare over Simonstown on a perfect night for football at Simonstown.
At the end of a poor opening half the sides were level at 0-3 each. Sean Tobin and the impressive Aaron Farrelly put the home side two up before Donaghmore Ashbourne hit three on the bounce from Darragh O’Sullivan, Kevin Fenton and Conor Carton. Farrelly with his second left it all square at the break.
The sides were still level at 0-6 each after fifteen minutes of the second half before the game came to life. Keeper Andy Colgan put the visitors in front, Mark Devlin punched over the equaliser for Simonstown before the games crucial score came, Andy Tormey finishing to the Simonstown net to put his team three up. Padraig McKeever reduced the lead to two but the ‘Moors’ finished with points from Bryan Menton, Colgan and Sean Tyrell to seal victory.
After the game Conor Tormey presented the feis Cup to Bryan Menton.
