The recent poor weather conditions has seen many games cancelled as clubs forced to close their pitches.
With the opening round of the Football Leagues scheduled this week Meath County Board has urged clubs to consider delaying the cancellation of pitches.
The recent weather conditions have presented challenges for our pitches, and we acknowledge the proactive steps some have taken in response.
However, in balancing the need for early decisions with the importance of fair play and communication, we kindly request that clubs consider delaying the cancellation of pitches, especially when doing so several days in advance.
While we appreciate the complexities of managing fixtures, it's essential to minimise the impact on schedules. Playing matches as planned, where feasible, helps to avoid the significant inconvenience of congested fixtures, particularly in light of potential future weather disruptions. This issue is especially pressing for clubs with dual player commitments.
We are encouraged by the improving weather forecast, suggesting better conditions tomorrow.
In light of this, we encourage clubs to seize the opportunity to proceed with games where possible, keeping in mind the collective effort to maintain a smooth and enjoyable season for all.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Out of the 15 original fixtures for tonight Thursday March 14th only three have survived.
