Allanah Brady and Lilly Dwyer close in on possession during the Minor Camogie League Division 1 final against Na Fianna at Kilskyre

Navan O’Mahony’s 2-05 Na Fianna 5-07

Played in Kilskyre’s impressive new facilities, Na Fianna got the better of Navan O’Mahony’s in the final of the Minor A League. Conditions were difficult to play in and both sides put in a stellar effort and had some impressive scores in spite of this.

Na Fianna were quick out of the traps, scoring two points before four minutes had passed. Jorja Keogh opened up the scoring for her side with a pointed free in the ninth minute. Na Fianna added two goals from play within sixty seconds of each other to put some distance between the sides.

Six minutes passed before Navan O’Mahony’s registered a response, in the form of a goal from Izzy Kinsella, followed almost immediately by a Na Fianna point. With ten minutes remaining, Kinsella found the net again, narrowing the gap.

The last five minutes saw Na Fianna add another two points and, in the last puck of the half, found the Navan O’Mahony’s net, leaving seven in it at the interval and an uphill task for the Brews Hill side in the second half.

Navan O’Mahony’s 2-01 Na Fianna 3-07

With the conditions not improving for the second half, both sides were soaked returning to the field of play and the wind blowing. Navan O’Mahony’s got off to a much better start in this half, with Caoimhe McKenna scoring from play.

Aoibhín Kielty then added her name to the score-sheet, scoring two impressive placed balls -  a 45 and a free. This left a more manageable four points between the sides. Na Fianna broke this run with a point in the fifteenth minute before Cara Ratty split the posts two minutes later.

Navan O’Mahony’s struggled to bring the deficit down any further than this, in spite of a number of attempts. A scoreless ten minutes passed before Na Fianna added a point in the 29th minute and then two goals either side of the thirty-minute mark, to worsen the look of the scoreboard from a Navan O’Mahony’s perspective
