Kildare's Conan Boran clears his lines as Meath's Rory Fagan closes in during the Leinster U20 HC clash at Pairc Tailteann

Kildare 1-18 Meath 1-12

A disappointing opening half display from Peter Durnin’s charges put an end to Meath’s run in this years Leinster Under 20 Hurling Championship at Pairc Tailteann. PHOTOS

The visitors totally dominated the opening 30 minutes and took a commanding 1-11 to 0-4 lead to the dressing room at half time. The feeling around the Navan venue was 'damage limitation' as the teams took to the pitch for the second half.

Meath had other ideas and inspired by James Murray who registered 6 points in the opening ten minutes and along with a fine effort from Joey Cole the Royals had the gap reduced to four points with 15 minutes remaining.

Four points from Fionn Maher steadied the Kildare ship and along with three pointed frees from Cathal McCabe put Eoin Stapleton’s charges back in control.

Joey Cole put a more respectable look on the scoreboard with a fine goal in the dying minutes.

Kildare scorers: Fionn Maher 0-10 , Cathal McCabe 0-6, Darragh Melville 1-0,  Jack Higgins 0-1,  Ferran O'Sullivan 0-1.
