This date 25 years ago not alone saw Dublin defeat Meath 1-18 to 1-8 in a Leinster senior football championship final but also brought to an end the glittering inter county careers of Robbie O’Malley, Colm O’Rourke and Brian Stafford.
The Royals were no match for the Dubs on the 30th July 1995, with Pat O'Neill's side going on to claim the Sam Maguire Cup .
O’Malley, O’Rourke and Stafford were outstanding servants to the Green and Gold. Between the trio they amassed 9 All Stars, 6 All Ireland’s, 8 NFL’s and 14 Leinster’s.
O’Rourke’s inter county career started in 1975, O’Malley ’84 and Stafford in 1986.
That glorious period between 1984 and 1994 would not have been achieved without these three outstanding footballers.
