Na Fianna picked up their third win in Group C  of the SFC in Pairc Tailteann and in doing so sent Wolfe Tones to the relegation play offs.

Na Fianna 0-18 Wolfe Tones 0-14

Wolfe Tones dominated large periods of the opening half but only took a two point lead to the dressing room at the break. Niall O'Reilly got the scoreboard working for Tony Kearney charges. Cian Ward followed up with a point from a free. Na Fianna had to wait till the 12th minute for their opening score courtesy of Danny Queeney.

With 8 minutes of the opening 30 remaining the Tones had worked up a 0-10 to 0-5 lead but Dudley Farrells men dominated the remainder. Points from Queeney, Conor Downey and Harrison Silke narrowed the lead to two at the break.

Na Fianna took over proceedings in the second half. The impressive Seanie Martin and county star Shane Walsh levelled matters in the early stages. Two Queeney points had the eventual winners ahead for the first time  0-12 to 0-11 after 10 minutes. Wolfe Tones were back on level terms, 0-13 each with ten minutes left but as in the first half Na Fianna finished the stronger.

Things might have been different for Wolfe Tones but for an outstanding save from Na Fianna keeper Shane Geraghty from a Fiachra Ward shot with the game still in the balance.

Martin, Walsh (2), Jamie Queeney and Jack McNally raised white flags and earn the Baconstown/Enfield combination a place in the quarter final against neighbours Summerhill. Wolfe Tones must beat St Pats to keep their place in the senior grade.
