FL Div 2: 'Town' remain top

Seneschalstown 1-15   Dunderry 1-09

Seneschalstown overcame Dunderry at home in Fr Tully Park on Sunday morning to remain top of Division 2.

The home side were first on the scoreboard with a point from free from full forward Cathal Finnegan and one from play from Cathal Hickey. Stephen Coogan opened the scoring for the visitors with a point from play and another from free. Corner forward Eoin Finnegan had a goal chance on the 12th minute when he was fouled in the square but unfortunately the ref had allowed advantage which allowed Joe Moore to kick a free over the black spot for Yellow Furze side.

This was soon cancelled out with 2 further point from the visitors. The home side got another point from play from Alan Mulvany before a well worked ball in from Bryan Clarke seen Cathal Finnegan find the back on the net on the 17th minute. This was quickly cancelled out when Liam Dempsey fired a good goal to the back of the Seneschalstown net on the 18th minute of play leaving the sides even. Coogan kicked over another point from free on the 20th minute putting the visitors a point ahead. Cathal Finnegan slotted over 2 points from free and 1 from play before the break of half time leaving the home side up by 2 points.

Seneschalstown were quick off the mark with points from play from Mulvany and Cathal Finnegan. Dunderry responded well with points from free and play from Stephen Coogan. The home side then gained the upper hand and scored 4 points without response from Clarke, Finnegan, substitute Dylan Keating and Mulvany. Dunderry received a penalty in the dying minutes of the match which hit the post and trailed wide to the relief of the Seneschalstown team and supporters.
