As the post says on current form without improvement we will not beat Down, Cavan. It will take a good bit more time to compete with the big guns i.e. Dublin,Kerry,Mayo.etc.

Anyone know what's going on with Shane Walsh? Is he just crocked? Keeps threatening to be the go to forward but can't stay fit

He's never going to be the forward who really pushes on like other teams have

Hamstring, think he came back too soon last time and just made things worse. Best to get it right this time, would be good to see him back for knockout stages but only if 100% recovered.

I suppose when its recovery mode for individuals and team its difficult to definitive. Injury free he seems a bright prospect. From a reliable source i understand that there are very positive vibes coming from all panel members since an all in meeting after the Offaly match . Perhaps that match was the bottom a poster referred to,so only way is up. Hard work done smartly is the only way forward.

someone should look into how many underage squads this lad played for between the age of 16 and 20, and i mean with county only...im not even going to mention club & hurling.....you will never be able to prove it, but this lad already has a lifetime of Hours in his body , joints & muscles

Funny thing is same poster was going mad on here last year that we could only draw with Down. Zero credibility at this stage. It's only cause of who is in charge. So he supports the management not the team. I feel sorry for the players as they have no leadership on sideline going by this year so far. The sooner it's over and clubs move the better for all concerned

Yeah, some lads play too much and body just cannot take it see a lot of this with rugby also, lads having to retire in early twenties. A decent rest may help him recover and should not be rushed back.

The same as majority of county players countrywide

This is a gumenuine question Dec.

Do you believe what you just wrote? Do you think that the clubs will call for a vote on the management and vote against them to have him removed?

I don't know, he needs a run of games in the team, if he got that I think he's so much better than what we have, he has physique and power which is crucial at inter county. We don't have anyone else who can put in a performance like he did against Cork in the league and take on a team. Jordy Morris has shown potential but he has seemed to stall on progress too. Need to play a system to suit theses guys as well. Morris seems to get frustrated easily against packed defenses. This weekend a good chance get confidence up and get the shooting boots on.

I'd say so. Rathoath and cilles are not happy , summerhill from what I've heard ain't to happy either. Smaller clubs though could be the problem. Look they did it with O'Brien (which was totally wrong) after he beat dubs and won Leinster so I wouldn't say it's not beyond the realm. Unless the whole back room changes and there is defining goals given, we cannot end up in tailteann cup next year. So the first way of avoiding that is winning it this year or having a good league next year. . Colm was a fantastic player one of the best I've ever seen. Along with geraghty and Connor. But it just isn't working out for him. I genuinely hope he can turn it around but the only way I see that happening is by winning what we in at the moment semi final loss won't cut it, I doubt even a final loss would but it may help. Colm won't walk away as he won't want to admit it went tits up for him, ( as a pundit etc I can understand that) cb may be reluctant to admit they made a error in appointing him after what happened when they didn't endorse mcentee in last year, so again it's about saving face. When it should be about what's best for Meath football. We have the most exciting group of players coming through that we've had in years, I don't think we can afford to lose them due to people not wanting to look bad on cb. Therefore I think the clubs might call it out. Then again who knows ? As you and I know the Gaa is more politically charged then any political party in country.

the answer is , when you identify a scarce resource, someone , with a view of the longer term steps in to see what is in the best interest of the player..which ultimately is exactly the aligned with the best interests of the county Long term. The way we brush this issue aside , it appears that its the "players problem"...it is in its arse ...its the short term blind ambition & ego of short sighted Managers , who time & again, promote the next great hope up through the ranks far too early ...and we wonder why we don't have a solid group of county standard players of the ages 24-27...get real lads...as for the fact that Other Counties doe it...as my mother use to say to me...if i put my hand in the fire, would you do it....we have got to start thinking about what is the right plan for Us

Replying To nobull456:  "Wind up ? Anyway i think the dogs in the street know that on form to date we will NOT beat Down,Cavan and maybe even a.n .other. I think every player who deserved a chance got a chance in fairness. Maybe so and so may be worth a chance later. We have to draw the line somewhere God knows our weaknesses are well known .So we have to work on them .by structured training sessions .Otherwise WHY HAVE A TRAINING SESSION ?
To help build confidence we develop on what may be green shoots..We scored 1 19 (yes against weak opposition) let them at it again for this match. Midfield continue with Jones and Grey surely there look to be worth the chance as a partnership for this match Slow starts ? An ideal opportunity to bring this problem into sharp focuss. Freetaking for this match leave it to 1 man to help establish confidence for this important task
I would refrain from "resting "any player.and refrain for now in giving anyone else"a go" because he might be a neighbours child or better still" a decent skin"
To me this is a very good opportunity to confirm or deny the green shoots theory, easpecially to build confidence for scoring forwards, freetakers, midfielders, to field and thus give goalkeeper more options on kickouts
For me right now its all about learning still, stick with what we have got because we have little option IF Walsh is fit give him a chance. It has to be about improvement in everything including mental preparation (slow starts etc)
Clearly needs have been identified.........structure and content for training sessions have to meet the needs or we can forget improvement, and thus forget about beating ANY team of substance.
I have full confidence that Colm knows what is needed I believe he will deliver in this competition ,but nowhere near ready to compete with the big guns. That will take a good bit more time as he said and thats ok
Finally, i rest my case about needs, structured training to improve. I will shut up and stop repeating myself now."
I'm on a wind up and not the chap slating a young fella who has never had an opportunity yet? Eoghan Frayne will be a main stay of the Meath senior team for years to come.
